Freeze Time (Small Style)

i sat and perused the pictures of our family today
and it hit me.

the knowing that things won’t always be so special
and they won’t be so tiny.
i know it in my bones and yet
i forget.

maybe on purpose.

these 5, all cousins, will grow to 8 by the end of the year.
one day they (and any other babies added)
will spread the far corners of the Country
maybe the world.

i may want to hold them here
to encourage them to stay close to momma.

but Love liberates.
so i say to them
i would love to have my arms around you
but i love you
and that’s enough
so go and be free
be wild
be you.

i can love you
wherever you are.

BEAUTIFUL post and that has been on my heart as well lately. When I feel like I just want the day to end, I remember “Oh wait…these days will all end…all too soon…” so it’s always great to have others give me that reminder as well! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog!! New follower!

Yes.
I want to be this kind of mama.
I hope I remember that when it comes time.

My oldest is almost 7 and I see so much in him now that wants to do and be something beyond my comfort zone. And I struggle with wanting to guard and protect him from the ‘big bad world’ that I see through grown-up eyes. But then I look at him and I see that he is different and maybe my grown-up eyes and grown-up world are too small for him and maybe – just maybe – he’s gonna change the world. Who am I to stand in the way of a world changer? So yes, let love liberate. And let the angels rejoice.

@Bridget, yes, as they enter the tween years they start to seem almost grown up – it’s so hard!

“so go and be free

I can love you

So beautiful. I hope that I’ll have the strength to love my kids like this, when I have them. In the meantime, I am practicing on my nephews, who live in Papua New Guinea and are very far away, and very wild. :)

made my heart swell a little :) “Be wild, Be you” – should be the theme song at my house (they have the wild part down)
