Remember When

by Arianne on August 1, 2010

strong man

You won’t remember living anywhere but here.

You won’t remember being born in a living room in Indiana.

You won’t remember Chicago.

But you, and your outie, will remember the South.

The beaches that call to us more days than not.

Learning to worship in our humble little church.

The peace that hangs on us, the humidity that hangs more.

School starts in a couple weeks, but our beach days will carry on.

Until the fall breeze strolls into town

And we hide that outie from the sun

until next year.

I’m doing a survey – will you please help me out? I want to know more about you – about who you all are that read this humble space on the web.  But also need your opinion!  What would you like to see more of here? Less of? I’m dreaming dreams and thinking up some fun ideas and need your input!

Click here to take the (quick!) survey. Thanks so much!

I’ve been pondering this … My son is probably only now at the point where he’ll remember our house and our vacations and our parties. And it’s all so strange to me that the first three years of his life will only be recalled through stories and pictures. (funny, I feel the same way about our wedding, and ironically, I’m writing a post about that tonight.)
But on the other hand, I love that he will only recall days with his little bro … Like he’s been here the whole time. Because that’s how my heart feels about it.

I envy your beaches and your stability. My bigger little man was sad, just tonight, realizing we won’t always live here in Colorado. So I told him stories of grand adventures and eventually, coming back to this place we love and having a bit of earth, to call home.

Well THAT was short and painless (the survey). Thanks for inviting our opinions!

I am so, so envious of the beach shots. My heart lives at the beach while my body toils away in the land-locked plains.
