My Anchor

There are days.

When the rain beats down at hurricane speeds. I run through it, hoping to get to the other side of the storm.

But oh.  The storm clouds stretch out ahead of me farther than my eyes can possibly reach.

I feel the weight of the drops.  Each one heavier than the next.

So heavy.

DSC_6878

The roaring winds press against me, the water suddenly feels tsunami, coming from all sides.  Pushing me, trying to get me to fall…

When suddenly I notice

It’s not working.  I’m not moving.

Something is holding me in place.

A tether seems to be tugging slightly at my soul, the rope attached deep within me.

Once I realize the rope is there, I feel stronger already.

My fingers find the line and trace it back to my heart.

Yes, this is rooted deep.  This anchor.

Wait…I hear whisperings.  Is it the wind?

Tis the anchor.  The anchor whispers.

The anchor, attached to my soul, carries promises that can never be broken.  Promises made by God, who cannot lie.

The anchor is

Hope.

DSC_6882

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf…” Hebrews 6:17-20

I needed that bible verse today. I’d actually been looking for one that was appropriate for what I’m going through right now, and you found it for me. Beautiful words from a beautiful woman and mother. Thank you.

Oh, such a beautiful post, thank you for sharing. And, can I just say, that splash pad place is the coolest? Charlie looks awesome in the middle there (I bet it was awesome deep pressure, huh?) And Jonah looks BEYOND adorable, running and smiling, oh, I need to chew on him for a while.
