I have things to say about rest.
The need for it…
being made for it…
being commanded to do it…
I’ll be sharing more on this next week. Will you take time to rest this weekend? Will you take a whole day to rest?

Yes, this weekend I’m going to stay off my computer on Sunday. Monday is my birthday, so as a gift to myself, I’m not going to open my computer all day.
I think it’s going to be harder than I first thought!

@Myra @ My Blessed Life, My husband’s birthday is on Monday too! Happy early birthday (in case I miss you on Monday). :)
It’s definitely hard. It’s a practice, almost a craft, we need to work on.

I will rest in spurts. My husband is on a retreat, so I’m in charge of our five kids for the weekend. A whole day of rest seems unlikely, but we will definitely have some quiet times. ;)

@nicole, I know, as moms we very rarely would get a rest from the mom duties. I think there’s something to be said for resting in other ways…we still need to feed everyone and take care of needs, but asking ourselves if it’s a “need” for that day is a good place to start finding rest. Great food for thought, thanks. :)

@melissa, We always think of it as an afterthought (at least I know I tend to do that) when in fact it’s something our bodies were created to require…crazy!

I rested some last night. My spirit needed it. My soul needed it. My husband and kids needed it. I’m increasingly finding that my need for rest is tantamount to how I function both personally and in ‘business’. I do so love this nudge from you. Heavenly – that’s what you are.

@ExtraordinaryMommy, I’m so glad. We have ambition and drive and goals and dreams and hopes and all those things are WONDERFUL, but they can’t come at the price of LIFE or they really won’t truly “come” at all.

I would love to take a whole day to rest, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. lol
Great pictures!

@Lisa, I know it seems impossible, right? I think there’s something to being intentional about rest moments, though. I’m thinking on this a lot lately…

Mmmmm… rest.
Sounds lovely.
There is such a big need for it. My soul craves it. And not the rest like sleeping the day away, the rest like sitting in a quiet room with tea and a huge stack of books and journals.

Love that photo! Rest and our need for it in multiple ways is a concept I really believe in, but have a hard time regularly putting into practice: hence my late night blog surfing. Yeesh! I’m looking forward to reading what you have to say on rest!!
