This weekend we spent time with a butterfly.
We didn’t catch it, it was just waiting for us. First Jamie picked it up, so big and yellow and friendly. They had a moment.
Then Charlie had a turn. He said it tickled.
It’s amazing how you calm down to hold a butterfly. Time seems to stand still.
Even Jonah had some time with it. The light and lovely perfect little thing was bigger than his hands.
Then it was simply ready to move on. And flew away.
These children, doing so well, I can’t believe they’ll fly away someday. But I’m so glad they can.

You are trying to kill your readers, right? You told me that you had pretty butterflies over here that would cheer me up but all I see is a post about how my kids are going to grow up and fly away someday far too soon!

A beautiful post and incredible insight (like why is it that kids can't sit still when you're trying to get them dressed in the morning but even your youngest can stand still for this?!)
