When Scissors Attack

by Arianne on August 19, 2008

How silly of me to want to grow out his hair, when his brother CLEARLY had other ideas.

The funny thing is, I don’t know if he’s going to let me fix it without a major fight.

He LOVES it.  His brother LOVES it (well, it’s his work, and he’s standing behind it no matter what).

At first I thought he looked like a balding accountant.

He’s still a Los Angeles boy at heart.  He told me he looks like a “cool punk dude” and now he’s ready for his first day of school ever.  Montessori wants them to express themselves, but I don’t think they had this in mind.

You don’t even want to see the back.  Unless you feel like crying.

But yesterday, post-hair disaster, he asked another kid at the park what his name was.  For the first time ever.  I wanted to hold a party.  Autism can suckit.

They’re getting better, friends.  The light at the end of the tunnel is so, so bright now.

Yikes! I remember when I taught preschool seeing this happen to several kids who found scissors and used them on their hair or the dogs! It will grow back and look, you made memories!

Must be the thing to do at that age. When I was about his age I had hair down to the middle of my back. I took the scissors from the Play-dough hairshop and cut half of it off above my ears.

Good luck. :)

I think he looks cute – very edgy. Such a fashionable tot! But I would still be very mad, playing with scissors is NOT ok no matter how cute the results!

Oh my gosh! I’d cry for real. My oldest 2 NEVER cut their hair. Never colored on a wall. I’ve always thought I’m really in for it with Carter.

“It’s only hair and it will grow back. It’s only hair…..”

It doesn’t look too bad! He could totally pass for a skater punk kid, for sure.

Oh.My.Goodness. I will hurt BJ if he ever goes near Mia with scissors!

But ya know, it really doesn’t look *that* bad. (Can you hear me laughing all the way from Texas? It’s a nice, friendly, I-know-I’ll-be-there-in-a-couple-years laugh.)

I’m so excited about his social breakthrough. So excited.

And yes, please post pictures of the back of his head. I NEED to see them ;)

Add a little gel and he could totally pull off a rocker ‘do.

And congrats on the social interaction! Cordy asked the same question for the first time a few months ago, and I nearly cried from happiness.

This put a big smile on my face…most kids do give their own haircut sooner or later. Actually it looks like he fits in to society just fine from what I’ve seen out there lately.
