Stirring The Pot

by Arianne on May 29, 2008

I’m writing about the Autism One conference over at my other blog, Stop Looking At Me here and here. I don’t mean to be stirring the pot , but a lot of the things I believe may or may not be what everyone else believes, and even if these things are controversial, they’re too important to me to keep silent.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I have plenty of friends who have opposite opinions on life than I do. I will still love you even if you think doctors are awesome, think country music is cool and think scrapbooking is the bomb, so I hope you will love me even if I don’t.

Personally, I find it refreshing to read the opinions of others. Some I take, some I leave. I know that the Vaccine issue is a hot, hot topic. I stand in the middle road somewhere on it. Today when I asked my doctor to wait another year for my daughter’s MMR, he acted as if I was a stupid and unfit mother and that hurt. But I stood firm. I respect you that you are able to state your opinions, but still be kind and non judgmental. Of course there are some things that are black and white, but with so many gray areas, I think this was a great post. I hope my comment made sense.

Doctors never want you to question their dogma…docs want us all to believe they know all and anyone who questions doesn’t just disagree, they are bad parents. Nice…

Your voice needs to be heard! Loudly! Sing on sista! Or chant or rhyme or rap – whatever!

I will be back with a serious comment but… what if we like digital scrapbooking. Are we still okay? I cant handle REAL scrapbooking but I make a mean digital book. Mean. :)

Hey, we all have our own opinions and that’s why we get to blog! Say it loud, it’s your right :-) For the record, though, I love country music and wish I could spend more time scrapbooking ;-) I think I *love* you more b/c you don’t like these things – life would be SOOOOO boring if we all liked and talked about the same things…………..

So like do you wanna go country line dancin’ or what?

Yee Haw!

Girl you know most of my beefs, (eeewww. or lack thereof) and the beauty of surrounding ourselves with intelligent and interesting women is the one thing we all have in common:

We’re all trying to do the best we can in raising our short people.

Be you, be real, and be so real that no one can question who you are.

Now go on and find some Garth Brooks and scrap book until you’ve glued your fingers together!

Your voice is powerful and profound. Keep stirring the pot with your detailed and brilliantly articulate writing. You are making a huge difference in the lives of our most important resource… our children. Only when you stop stirring will people stop listening.

By the way… I LOVE country music (can’t explain why!), I have attempted scrapbooking once (I suck at it!), and I think doctors are, well… necessary (that’s a good way of putting it, I guess).

I guess I should out myself a bit here…when we first moved to the Midwest 18 months ago I was so enamored with this “country” life. The corn fields, the slow driving and the slow living. The peacefulness was incredible. So, I fully embraced country music. For an entire year I learned every word and couldn’t get enough.

Then…

I came to my senses and returned to my indie rock roots. ;)
